Emil Nolde was not only a contemporary of Paul Klee but also an artist friend. The exhibition concentrates on aspects of Nolde’s work which we also encounter repeatedly in Klee’s work, and which runs through Nolde’s work like a thread – the grotesque, the fantastical and the exotic. The exhibition shows works by Nolde which may be less well known, but which assume a central position in his work.
