RECONSTRUCTION OF THE GAME

Aleksandar Dimitrijevic

Reconstruction of the game (2011) is a result of consideration of a co-creative relationship with audience, i.e. the identity of a creator and a creative process, here manifested through the game of mutual influence between the artist and the viewer, the opportunities it provides for the constant relativising of relationship between artifacts and the auditorium, and creative involvement through game-playing.

The work was created in 2011 for the art salon Energy Plus in the Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina, Novi Sad (Serbia). This installation presents a turning point in my work. It consists of three interrelated parts (artifacts, wall drawing made directly on the gallery wall, and incidental drawings):

– Artifacts (work in progress) were first exhibited as part of the installation Reconstruction of the Game (2011)

– The series of incidental drawings (2011), 150x100cm (work in progress) were realised on my studio over time; the floor in my studio is covered in used papers of various dimensions that are then trampled on, damaged, marked and made through the incidental process of being there (in the studio) while I'm working. The traces that occur during work adds to their history, which is then subsequently built in or revoked in the further process through collages and paintings.

– Wall drawing Artifact, 700x500cm, is a magnified artifact by an unknown author, signed by the artist as a 'proof' of creative ownership.
