Isabel Muñoz was invited to participate in the Planche(s) Contact 2018 Festival with the commission to carry out a project on her particular vision of the French city of Deauville, scene of the festival. Because of its proximity to the Norman coast and the fame of its equestrian races, and fascinated by the elegance and mystery of the mythical animal, Muñoz chose to work around the figure of the horse and the sea, sometimes even fusing animality with humanity. It is not the first time that Isabel inquiries into the relationship of the human being with nature and with other animals. In Family Album, show that we exhibited in the gallery in 2016, the photographer placed in front of her target different primates, bonobos, chimpanzees, gorillas... who she managed to portray as the bridge that unites us to the rest of the species, the closest to ourselves. At the Norman festival, Isabel continued her endless and almost obsessive research on body and movement as a way of understanding the world. In the words of the curator of the Deauville exhibition, François Cheval, "... without any fear, Isabel Muñoz reinvents the Centaur [...] The forms, the muscles, are confused in an interlacing of contrasted tonalities. Power combines with elegance in a world finally reunified. " After her visit to the exhibition, an 11-year-old girl left a note written in the guestbook: "With these pictures, you might think that unicorns exist."
