During this period, the young artist synthesized a variety of influences—from the paintings of his mentor, landscape painter Eugène Boudin, to the experimental canvases of Édouard Manet—to create striking works that manifested his interest in conveying textures and the effects of light. Featuring approximately 60 paintings, Monet: The Early Years reveals the radical invention that marked his artistic development during these formative years. The show is intended as the first of two focused exhibitions on Monet presented by the Fine Arts Museums and the Kimbell Art Museum, Fort Worth, Texas; it will be followed by Monet: The Late Years in 2019. This exhibition is organized by the Kimbell Art Museum in collaboration with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.Presenting Sponsor: Diane B. Wilsey. Patron’s Circle: David A. Wollenberg. The exhibition is supported by an indemnity from the Federal Council on the Arts and the Humanities.Tickets not yet available.
