The French Perspective: Contemporary Art from France

(Friday) (Thursday)

French Art Entices and Inspires at Agora Gallery

Agora Gallery brings together six of the most compelling artists working in France today for The French Perspective: Contemporary Art from France. One representative painter, one photographer, and four abstract painters are featured, all of whom share an important set of stylistic traits. Bold colors combined in sophisticated ways, complex compositions, and an emphasis on high energy define these works. Yet each artist is completely distinct from the next: candid portraiture, posed and stylized surrealism, and flights of pure imagination are all part of the exhibition. Among the works are experimentation with shape and texture, globe-trotting street scenes, Technicolor mountain landscapes, and a new perspective on the human figure. Enriched but not overshadowed by strong cultural ties and a prominent place in art history, the voices of modern France are diverse and vibrant.

The French Perspective: Contemporary Art from France opens July 8th, 2016 and run through July 28th. There will be a reception open to the public on Thursday July 14th, from 6pm to 8pm. Admission is free.
