Forth Estate Editions

(Friday) (Sunday)

Since 2005 Forth Estate Editions has emerged as a compelling new voice in the vibrant fine art print community. Having exhibited the publisher's first year of prints at the end of 2006, Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery is excited to have the opportunity to show their latest editions. The editions included in this show represent the wide range of technical and artistic possibilities of the artist-printer collaboration.

While some of the artists in this show have previous knowledge of printmaking processes, for others it was a first opportunity to work with a printer to create an edition that expands and enhances their body of work. Whether they are primarily a painter, sculptor, or photographer the pieces they created with Forth Estate reflect a translation of their artistic processes and ideas to editioned works. Forth Estate Editions seeks not to replicate an existing artwork, but create a new piece through the collaborative pairing of artist with master printer, in which the printer provides the technical expertise in facilitating experimentation and creativity.

The show will include editions by Glen Baldridge, Ian Cooper, Alex Dodge, Angela Dufresne, Sara Greenberger Rafferty, Joseph Hart, Matt Keegan, Paul Pope, Phil Sanders, Molly Smith, Will Yackulic, and Kevin Zucker.

Forth Estate was founded in 2005 by Luther Davis and Glen Baldridge in the interest of producing editioned works by emerging artists using both traditional and technologically innovative approaches to printmaking.

Editions published by Forth Estate are included in the collections of the New York Public Library, the Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Newark Public Library, the RISD Museum, and the Jundt Art Museum.
