School of Visual Arts presents “tie in,” an exhibition of work by second-year MPS Art Therapy students and the people they work with through their internships. Curated by Liz DelliCarpini, department internship coordinator, “tie in” is on view Saturday, February 13, through Saturday, March 13, at the SVA Flatiron Gallery, 133/141 East 21st Street, New York City.School of Visual Arts presents “tie in,” an exhibition of work by second-year MPS Art Therapy students and the people they work with through their internships. Curated by Liz DelliCarpini, department internship coordinator, “tie in” is on view Saturday, February 13, through Saturday, March 13, at the SVA Flatiron Gallery, 133/141 East 21st Street, New York City.Comprised of work by MPS Art Therapy students and the people they work with at internships at organizations such as Bellevue Hospital, Covenant House, Good Shepherd Services and Queen's Children's Psychiatric Hospital, “tie in” features a participatory textile installation in the center of the gallery. By encouraging viewers to “tie in” with the installation and the work in the gallery, the exhibition symbolizes a key aspect of art therapy practice: using art processes to create opportunities for inclusion and recognition within the larger community.SVA’s MPS in Art Therapy program is an immersive two-year, 60-credit program that prepares students to become licensed art therapists. The program is interdisciplinary in approach, integrating the experiential components of art therapy within a comprehensive framework of academic theory, clinical application via internships and art practice.
