Wednesday, 28 October 2015 | 6.30 pmIn 1964, the biggest sculptured stone of the Americas - a monolith symbolizing a pre-Hispanic god of water - was transported from San Miguel Coatlinchán in Texcoco to the National Museum of Anthropology and History in Mexico City. The removal caused a rebellion of the villagers and ended with a military intervention. Today, the huge stone is the capital's monument and one of the most important national icons. By means of animations, archive material from the 60's and re-enactments with the main figures during the transport, this documentary film analyses the importance of historic remnants from the past for the present. Fernando Trueba, Javier Mariscal, Tono Errando, Chico y Rita (ES 2010, 94 min.)
