Anna Leonhardt - Extending Blue | paintings

(Saturday) (Saturday)

With 'Extending Blue', we present Anna Leonhardt's first solo exhibition with our gallery at the start of the season.

As a genuine figure painter, she travels uncharted waters in her most recent works.
Shaped in a contemplative process, still color spaces become the backdrop for Leonhardt's eruption-like executed settings of form.

She employs luminous blue as a means of utmost dematerialization of her materializations formally verging on abstraction. However, her figurations are kept from ultimate volatilization through vehement, palette-knife streaks in plasticity full of material.

In the act of such artistic balance on the cusp of cool yearning from a distance while drawing attention to the presence of substance, pictures evolve within reach of the elusive.

Anna Leonhardt, born in Pforzheim, Germany, in 1981, lives and works in Dresden and Berlin. She completed her post-graduate studies with Prof. Ralf Kerbach at the Academy of Fine Arts, Dresden, in 2010.

Her multiple awards and scholarships include the artist residency at the Kuenstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf, 2014, the Preis fuer Junge Kunst, SACHSEN_ART, 2013, and the Hegenbarth-scholarship of the Dresdener Stiftung Kunst & Kultur der Ostsaechsischen Sparkasse Dresden, 2010.

Anna Leonhardt's works are represented in numerous collections, among others in the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek, the Kunstfonds, Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, the Kunstsammlung des Saechsischen Landtages, the Kunstsammlung der Ostsaechsischen Sparkasse Dresden, the Neue Saeschsiche Galerie Chemnitz, and the Staedtische Galerie Dresden.
