The Kindness Experience: Happy Hour 4 Kids Exhibition

(Saturday) (Saturday)

Presented by MPS Art Therapy, "The Kindness Experience" features work by the children and adolescents who attend Happy Hour 4 Kids, a full time therapeutic center. The exhibition is curated by Stephanie Feinberg, LCAT, ATR-BC (MPS 2014 Art Therapy), and there will be two receptions: Tuesday, June 19, 1:30 – 3:00pm, and Wednesday, June 20, 2:30 – 3:00pm.At Happy Hour 4 Kids, a sense of community is highly valued. In art therapy, children learn how to be a good friend, starting with being a good friend to themselves. For "The Kindness Experience," children created their pieces in individual and group art therapy. They were asked to reflect on what being kind means to them. Children first practiced an act of self-care and kindness by creating artwork for themselves. They then practiced kindness towards a peer by choosing them at random from a bag to create artwork for. After learning about that peer's likes and interests, they made a doll or superhero for them. Through this process, children increased their empathy, confidence in themselves and their ability to think about other's thoughts and feelings. In "The Kindness Experience," you will find two pieces of artwork that each child is proud to display, further creating a community of kindness and respect at Happy Hour 4 Kids. Presented by MPS Art Therapy, "The Kindness Experience" features work by the children and adolescents who attend Happy Hour 4 Kids, a full time therapeutic center.
