"A Black Fade" (黑色阴影)

Liu Dao

Fade to black’ is a term that comes out of Latin literature and generally means dying, or ‘crossing over to the other side’. It’s also used popularly in theatre, cinema and in dozens of songs, poems, stories etc. Black is supposed by many to be an intense and mysterious color, one that radiates intimidation and standoffishness. One thing that black has over every other color though: it’s cool. Black cars and pants and shoes and phones and…whatever else… looks cool. What other color makes you look instantly ten pounds lighter? Just look at any black military uniform or police force clothing, ninjas for heaven’s sake. Black rules. Sure it’s the color of doom, death, demise and evil…but that’s another thing that makes it cool. Johnny Cash wore all black, James Dean wore…black sometimes, the coolest guns are black. Black is so cool that it makes other colors around it look better. So listen, if you’re ever unsure about what color to go with, whether it be your shoes your car, guns etc… just buy it in black.
