Galleria Continua opened in Italy in 1990, by Mario Cristiani, Lorenzo Fiaschi and Maurizio Rigillo. Occupying a former old cinema, it was established in an unexpected location, away from big cities and modern urban centers, in a medieval town called San Gimignano. Galleria Continua has the desire to maintain continuity between generations, the wish to compose a story responsive to the contemporary creation, which nourishes the bond of the past and the future. Since 2004, established in 798 art district Galleria Continua Beijing performs an intense role of cultural mediator, offering Chinese art-lovers the chance to visit exhibitions in which international-level artists devise projects specifically for the gallery space and reflect upon their experiences. It is a twofold challenge: for the foreign artist, who is exhibiting in China in a rather particular venue; and for the visitor, who is venturing into very different cultural territory. Le Moulin of Boissy opened in 2007; it is the site for ambitious projects and exhibitions of large-scale works. It develops a wide place and intense programme for new contemporary art scenes in the Parisian countryside.
