(Monday) (Friday)

Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery will be closed on Sunday 9th October 2016 for essential maintenance work. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. There will be complimentary walking tours from Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery to the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter throughout the day at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

Tuschara Kiewpukdeet is Artist in Residence at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. He is funded by the Whitworth Wallis Trust. The aim of his residency is to produce new work inspired by the Museum’s collection.

Tuschara works in painting, drawing and collage to explore cultural and ethnic hybrids in the contemporary world. Inspired by a wide range of references, his artworks may combine religious iconography, cartoon characters and images from popular culture.

Whitworth Wallis, after whom this annual residency is named, was director of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery from 1885 to 1927. This residency is in partnership with Birmingham Institute of Art and Design and is open to students graduating from BA and MA courses. Birmingham Museums Trust would like to thank Whitworth Wallis Trust for their support.
