BANGKOK, BKK (October 28, 2008) - ArtGorillas ArtGallery is pleased to announce "The Time We Were Family", the first solo exhibition by Jiab Prachakul featuring new selected works on canvas and mixed media.
Prachakul captured sensational feelings while she spent the past year in U.K. by portraying her closed friends in three different houses using oil on canvas as well as 8mm. film. Start working from taking an ordinary portrait picture of her subject, then Prachakul recreated each image and transformed them into her distinctive paintings.
About the artist
Jiab Kultida Prachakul is a Thai self-taught artist based in East London. She was born in 1979 in Nakorn Phanom, Thailand. After getting a bachelor's degree in Filmography from the faculty of Journalist and Mass Communication,Thammasat University, she had worked for a local production house for four years before pursuing further education in London, U.K., where she had her first solo show.
Some of her pieces in "The Time We Were Family" have been featured in a documentary film about Jean Charles Mendes from an independent Mango Films production, which is scheduled to be on screen next year.
This show is the first exposure ever of the artist in Thailand before heading to Berlin, Germany.
