New Paintings by Gabrielle Bill

(Tuesday) (Saturday)

Gabrielle graduated from The Surrey Institute of Art and Design, with a BA hons in Fine Art in 2000 after successfully completing a National Diploma in art and design in Cambridge. Since then she has exhibited yearly and extensively in Europe. Before leaving England for 10 years, she taught part time portraiture in mixed media alongside her studio work and has on occasion taught privately.

Her work can be found in collections in Lebanon, Canada, USA, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, as well as in the UK.
She specialises in using oil on canvas and enjoys mainly working on two 1 x 1 metre squares at a time, each canvas taking up to one month to complete. Her passion is in the layering of the paint and mark making, creating depth as well as playing with focus and the illusion of three dimensions. She enjoys the image evolving as she works never knowing quite what the end result will be.

Her work recently has become more thought provoking. These new paintings are now more about her love of the figure and nature, with a strong emotional and subconscious thread. Figures hide in the shadows of her paintings, giving a depth and adding a further dimension. Her recent visit to Nepal and India has also been a strong influence on her most recent work.

Her work is new and uplifting and is beginning to have quite a following: an artist to watch.
