Michael Johansson - Crossroads

(Monday) (Saturday)

Crossroads Michael Johansson">Michael Johansson" href="index.php?page=artist_id&id=4764">Michael Johansson" href="index.php?page=artist_id&id=4764">Michael Johansson inaugurates his third solo show at The Flat with his new installation, Crossroads, which –  true to his style – is composed of mass produced objects with everyday uses and a number of unusual sculptures. In his latest work, the Swedish artist (b. Trollhattan '75) separates himself, at least partially, from the process of stacking heterogeneous objects and formal compounds according to their shapes and colors, creating an unprecedented form of geometric abstraction that could be likened to the crossing of abstract lines. Fascinated by the theme of the crossing as a meeting point of lines, from which new possibilities and variations unfold, Johansson’s work encourages the viewer to observe the world from an unconventional point of view, forming associations between familiar objects that assert their presence, yet contradict each other.
