(Director present)The historical drama takes place on the court of Philipp II (1559-1598), where numerous political intrigues originate. In 1578, during the night of Easter Monday, Juan de Escobedo is trapped and murdered by a group of contract killers. This tragedy leads to the investigation on several personalities related to the court El Escorial. Sandra Rozental, Jesse Lerner, La Piedra Ausente (MX 2013)

Wednesday, 28 October 2015 | 6.30 pmIn 1964, the biggest sculptured stone of the Americas - a monolith symbolizing a pre-Hispanic god of water - was transported from San Miguel Coatlinchán in Texcoco to the National Museum of Anthropology and History in Mexico City. The removal caused a rebellion of the villagers and ended with a military intervention. Today, the huge stone is the capital's monument and one of the most important national icons. By means of animations, archive material from the 60's and re-enactments with the main figures during the transport, this documentary film analyses the importance of historic remnants from the past for the present. Fernando Trueba, Javier Mariscal, Tono Errando, Chico y Rita (ES 2010, 94 min.)

Thursday, 29 October 2015 | 6.30 pmAnimation movie for adults inspired by the end of the forties in Cuba. The two main characters, Chico and Rita, live a passionate love story. Their love life and professional paths unite and separate like those of two Bolero characters. Critics called this movie a “delicious mixture of cartoon animation and digital style”. Hari Sama, El Sueño de Lu (MX 2011, 106 min.)

Wednesday, 4 November 2015 | 6.30 pm

Wednesday, 11 November 2015 | 6.30 pmSeeking a better life, the men in the movie leave their country without noticing that they are destroying what they want to save: their families. Thursday, 12 November 2015 | 6.30 pm

(Director present)The documentary “Flamenco de raíz” devotes itself to the historical roots of flamenco as well as its celebration on streets and private festivities. The movie gives an insight into various perspectives and expressions connected to the world of flamenco – from a personal and a professional point of view. The role of flamenco in the context of cultural industry or within more intimate circles of families is explained. “Flamenco de raíz” brings us closer to those, who make singing their lifelong task and make us feel through music.
