Mariano Fuga: Risalita

Solo Exhibition: iSculpture Art Gallery San Gimignano | September 26th – October 18th, 2015

ISculpture Gallery is pleased to present the solo exhibition "Risalita/Resurgence" by Mariano Fuga, that will be held at the headquarters in San Gimignano (SI).

The Catalogue, bringing the text of Nico Stringa, Professor of Contemporary Art History at the University Ca 'Foscari in Venice, will be presented during the opening.

With the new artistic project Resurgence, the "Figures" by Fuga are no longer individual actors, but face and engage with the world around them, as expressed through spherical and hemispherical shapes, either concave or convex.

The "Excercises of Resurgence", title of the works bearing witness different stages of moments of life, are, as Prof. Stringa underlines," Acrobats in love with space and colour; unprecedented colours, as far as I know, in Italian contemporary ceramics; and spaces, just as new, despite being under the eyes of all "

Unlike the series of  "Theatres" at the end of the nineties, where the legacy of traditional folk pottery is exasperated by the gestures of the characters that boxes them in perspective rigor of the off-stage, in these new creations by Mariano, we can feel the desire for new experiments. And also different from previous works, such as "Divers" or "Flyers", Resurgence has had the courage to face the search for a relationship between form and space, volumes and colors and, therefore, to give a space, that is no more forcing and limiting his figures.

Moreover, "Bricks" and "Columns" with figures could not be missing in the exhibition, with the whistles belonging to the tradition of the Venetian Cuchi, of which Mariano is considered one of the representatives.

At the same time you can visit the installation of five "Columns", as part of "Sculptures for a scene of Art", on display in the beautiful setting of the Castello di Casole in Casole d'Elsa (Siena).

Opening on September 26th at 6.00 p.m. with the presence of the artist.
