This exhibition presents more than 50 major works of art from the Brooklyn Museum’s renowned collection of modern art. The diversity of the art produced in the 50 years between 1910 and 1960 is represented in paintings by Georgia O’Keeffe, Milton Avery, Marsden Hartley, Stuart Davis, Arthur Dove, Rockwell Kent, Joseph Stella, Elie Nadelman, Norman Rockwell and more. At the end of her life, Shelburne Museum founder Electra Havemeyer Webb (1888-1960) planned to expand the Museum’s collection to include modernist paintings and sculpture. This exhibition allows visitors a rare opportunity to experience such modern masters in Vermont. “American Moderns, 1910-1960: From O’Keeffe to Rockwell has been organized by the Brooklyn Museum.”
