Masters of the Imagination: The Latin American Fine Art Exhibition

(Tuesday) (Tuesday)

The artists in “Masters of the Imagination: The Latin American Fine Art Exhibition” illustrate the many forms and shapes Latin American art can take. For all of them, nature’s influence is strong. From delicate representations of clouds to vibrant forest scenes to brightly colored depictions of animals, their works transform what they see in the world around them into images that tell personal stories. In those images, representing the world of dreams and thoughts takes on an importance, equal to that of realistically depicting their subjects. With color palettes that run from the psychedelic to subtle combinations of white, black and grey, each image takes the viewer into a distinctive environment.

Employing graphite on paper, colored pencils, and acrylics, they create images that balance a powerful physical presence with a hint of the otherworldly. The contours of the natural world are captured, but within those boundaries is a broad range of expressive possibilities. By bringing their individual viewpoints to vivid life, they communicate the diversity and power of today’s Latin American art.

The exhibition opens on September 20, 2016 and runs until October 11, 2016. The opening reception will take place on the evening of Thursday, September 22nd, 2016. Entrance is free.
