The exhibition includes art forms from the pre-Hispanic or Mesoamerican era, continuing through the Spanish colonial period to folk, modern and contemporary art with an emphasis on the work of San Francisco Latino artists. The special exhibition includes selections from local private collections and the permanent collection of the Mexican Museum, which is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary. The exhibition focuses on the rich traditions of Mexican and Latino art and culture, from ancient to contemporary art forms, with examples of pre-Hispanic, Colonial, folk, fine and contemporary works including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, glass and works on paper.
