Logical emotion – contemporary art from japan

(Thursday) (Sunday)

In 2014, Japan and Switzerland celebrate 150 years of diplomatic relations between them. To mark this occasion, Museum Haus Konstruktiv is organizing the exhibition project Logical Emotion in cooperation with the Japan Foundation. On the basis of our museum's constructivist- concrete and conceptual heritage, director Sabine Schaschl and Kenjiro Hosaka from the Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, shall curate a comprehensive group exhibition of current Japanese contemporary art. This will draw on a pool of diverse media, such as painting, installation, video, photography, architecture, manga drawings and applied art. Alongside internationally renowned contemporary artists, we shall also present a number of young and emerging artists. There will be shown works by: AOKI Noe, ENOKURA Koji, HATTORI Kazunari, HIRATA Akihisa, IKEDA Ryoji, KUSAMA Yayoi, MATSUE Taiji, MIYAJIMA Tatsuo, MITSUKE Masayasu, KANEUJI Teppei, SUGITO Hiroshi, WATANABE Go und YOKOYAMA Yuichi. In keeping with the exhibition's title, Logical Emotion, the works shown will not only have rationally derivable structures of order, but also a strong sensory quality, which carries the observer off into fascinating experiential worlds.
