Mattia Casalegno: The Knowledge of the Body

(Среда) (Среда)

CP Projects Space is pleased to present "Mattia Casalegno: The Knowledge of the Body," curated by MA Curatorial Practice fellow John Elammar. In this solo exhibition, Casalegno reflects upon the nuanced similarities between machines and humans. The works reveal hidden desires within our society by showing where fragments of materials such as athletic wear, Soylent, and LED grow lights intersect with a culture of efficiency and our bodies at large. For example, in the exhibition, the orange glow from the flat plane of 3D imaging software surrounds the portrait of a silicone face that begins to pulsate as the viewer contorts their body. Ultimately, Casalegno invites viewers to contemplate the ways in which machines have impacted our bodies to the point at which we cannot differentiate between the two.Mattia Casalegno is an Italian, New York-based visual artist working in a broad range of media. His multidisciplinary work is influenced by both post-conceptualism and digital art, and is considered relational, immersive and participatory.
