"Dread Pirate Roberts" (黑暗海盗罗伯特)

Liu Dao

“Money has lost its narrative quality the way painting did once upon a time. Money is talking to itself.”
- Don DeLillo

Let’s move to New York City and walk around like we have somewhere to be. They won’t know who we are, because they don’t know who we are. We’re the princes of Manhattan for all they know. Our time will be spent spending five-dollar bills and drinking fifteen-dollar beers. We can get ten-gallon hats and screw two-ton women. Leave dignity in an alleyway after we vomit in stairwell. Crash a wedding party and drive home in a stolen van. Wear masks and costumes with our skin covered in mud. Run from the cops, let them catch us, and then break out of jail. Give people fake names and tell fake stories. Show pictures of kids that aren’t ours talk about friends we don’t have. We can do all this and more. We aren’t trapped, broken, in debt, afraid, lonely, worried, or poor. There is nothing in this world holding us back and nothing that can stop us once we let go. Follow me, nothing will go wrong.
