"My Green Old Pine" (苍孙不倒)

Liu Dao

I might not look so young anymore I’ll give you that. I’ve been around though and making little notches on my bed post since the 70’s. There are quite a few of these little slices carved but still some space left and I intend on using it. The key to the whole shebang is staying relaxed. No broad wants some jumpy jittery asshole that’s gonna give her his best 2 minutes. They want the real thing. Stoic confidence outlasts boisterous bravado any day of the week. So I let the loud mouths run their game. I watch them scare away all the prospects and leave alone, then, I wait. I watch the girls come back and take their spots, I approach calm and quiet and before they know it I’m right there. My father taught me to stay relaxed by starting the day with a drink- a stout in the summer and a lick of gin in the winter. To hell with that though, if I’m gonna make bad decisions I prefer to make them sober.
