Unlocking the secrets of ancient objects at National Museum Wales' conservation laboratories.

Dr Mark Lewis will focus on two of the objects from the Treasures exhibition, ancient Egyptian shabti figures from the Valley of the Kings and a brick from the temple-ziggurat at Ur.  He will show how the application of forensic science in the form of infra-red spectroscopy has transformed our understanding of these objects and he will explain how and why, it was done.
