Rock Paper Scissors

(Saturday) (Monday)

Rostra Gallery serves up a diverse exhibition exploring different mediums and how they are used to create stunning new work. From fairy-tale sculpture to delicate papercuts this exhibition will delve into the world of the handmade.

New artist Johnathan Reiner will kick off the exhibition with his striking screen prints focussing on colour, pattern and composition. His work combines graphic, illustrative components through the use of drawing alongside manipulation of photographic textures and details. Dorienne Carmel also joins Rostra Gallery with her stoneware sculptures inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Her work is highly detailed and captures the charm and eccentricity of the story whilst demonstrating excellent craftsmanship. Alongside our new artists will be established mosaic artist Adele Zaslawska who brings colour and life back into old china as she reinvents them into fun, quirky artworks.

Helen Burgess’ work utilises vintage maps and travel guides to present sculptural geo-historic collections of the local area and Naomi Greaves produces unique etchings and paper sculptures, all of which are inspired by natural history, museum collections and Victorian book engravings. Rostra Gallery also welcomes back renowned papercut artist Rebecca Coles who will be displaying her exquisite hand cut butterfly pieces that have become highly collectable and sought after.
