The first of these installations is Konstantin Grcic's Netscape, which was commissioned for the design fair as part of his Designer of the Year award in 2010. The second, Buckminster Fuller’s 24-foot Fly’s Eye Dome, was featured at Design Miami/ 2011 as a satellite exhibition in collaboration with the Miami Design District. Part of PAMM's permanent collection, Netscape will remain on view through October 2015, while Fly's Eye Dome will be on view from November 20 - December 14, 2014.
Design Miami/ founder, Craig Robins commissioned distinct versions of Netscape for both the Miami Design District and for PAMM, with the museum's new, waterfront facility in mind. This will be the first time it has been displayed since its 2010 debut at Design Miami/. Netscape features a star-shaped, modular steel structure, with hammock-like swings made of fiberglass and polypropylene netting which rock gently when used by visitors. Like the design for the new museum, Netscape was created with social interaction in mind, and will be placed at the museum's northeast corner, overlooking Biscayne Bay.
