The School of Visual Arts MFA Design: Designer As Author + Entrepreneur program is pleased to announce Venture17: Beyond Design, a fascinating look at an exciting new wave of design entrepreneurship, and a showcase of nineteen products, services, apps, and more.The School of Visual Arts MFA Design: Designer As Author + Entrepreneur program is pleased to announce Venture17: Beyond Design, a fascinating look at an exciting new wave of design entrepreneurship, and a showcase of nineteen products, services, apps, and more.We warmly welcome our colleagues in the design and business communities, the press, and the interested public to join us on April 11th at the SVA Theatre for a venture beyond design, and into the boundless potential of design entrepreneurship.The School of Visual Arts MFA Design: Designer As Author + Entrepreneur program launched in 1998 as an alternative to traditional masters programs. Students delve into their own passions, design original content, and develop market-ready ventures.The annual Thesis Forum and Thesis Launch are platforms for MFA candidates to introduce these ventures to the public, receive feedback, and build partnerships. Each graduating student presents a conceptual pitch and promotional video highlighting the story, features, and viability of their products.The ventures of Beyond Design span a range of themes and media. Some are educational, designed to help people learn more about themselves and the world around them, while others are digital experiences that connect people and create communities. Several ventures offer online services designed to make everyday life simpler, easier, and happier, and many others develop innovative products to complement the modern lifestyle of global consumers.Designers and business owners are encouraged to attend Venture17: Beyond Design, on April 11, 2017.
